Sick leave and unexpected absences

What TMA team members and clients should do when someone is sick, unable to work or unexpectedly absent.

What should happen if a team member is sick?

If a TMA team member is sick or unable to work, they must notify their client Line Manager before their shift starts.

They must also notify TMA through the TMA Helpdesk so the Talent Operations team can record and manage the absence.

Both steps are important.

What if a team member is unable to work today?

The team member should:

  1. contact their client Line Manager before the shift starts; and
  2. notify TMA through the TMA Helpdesk.

If a client needs to report the issue, submit an urgent enquiry through the TMA Support Centre.

What if a team member does not arrive for work?

If a team member is unexpectedly absent and you have not heard from them, contact Talent Operations as soon as possible.

Submit an Urgent enquiry through the Support Centre or contact a team member currently on duty through the Talent Ops Contacts page.

What happens if TMA is not notified?

If TMA is not informed about an unexplained absence, the Talent Operations team may need to begin the AWOL process.

This can include attempting to contact:

  • the team member; and
  • the team member’s next of kin.

This process is used to check on the team member’s wellbeing and understand why they have not attended work.
